David Joe Benefiel

David Joe Benefiel, age 66, of Cicero, IN passed away July 4, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born July 30, 1952 in Anderson, IN to Robert Norman and Ethel Gayle (Bromback) Benefiel.

David was a graduate of Frankton High School with the Class of 1970.  He then continued his education at Indiana Business College.  He worked for over 30 years for General Motors in Anderson, IN. He then went on to work for Beck's Superior Hybrids in Atlanta, IN for the last nine years.

David loved traveling with his best friend, Becky.  The two were high school sweethearts and have been inseparable ever since.  He was the rock for his children and they knew he had their back in any situation.  He is adored by his four grandchildren and nothing made him happier than playing with them and making them laugh.  Dave was an avid waterskier and loved taking boat rides in his Nautique.  He was always willing to help out anyone in need and was rarely seen without a smile on his face.  Dave touched so many lives and will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

He married Becky (Brown) Benefiel on May 6, 1972.  She survives him.  

Also surviving is a daughter: Lesley (Chad) Amos of Cicero, IN, a son: J. Blake (Milena) Benefiel of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, brother: Gary (Toby) Benefiel of Anderson, IN, and his grandchildren: Cole and Adi Amos, and Rome and Cruz Benefiel.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother: Ronnie Benefiel.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 8, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034, with burial to follow at Cicero Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.  

Memorial contributions can be made to a special organization with which David loved to volunteer. RHI Sports specializes in serving youth and adults with disabilities allowing them to enjoy sports activities using specially designed equipment.
