Deborah Sue Castor, age 71, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 at her Cicero, IN home. She was born at Noblesville, Indiana on July 21, 1947. Debbie, as she was fondly known, was a member of the Junior Vaqueros Baton and Drum Corps from 1962-1965. She was a graduate of Carmel High School with the Class of 1965, then furthered her career plans by attending and graduating from beauty school in 1966. She then began a 25 year career as a cosmetologist. She later worked at Royal Pin Leisure Center and retired from Woodland Bowl in 2009.
Debbie was known for her "kooky" sense of humor, her encompassing laugh and the enjoyment of the sparkling lights of casinos. She loved the serenity of nature, the ocean (especially at Tybee Island, GA), and crafting. She was a doting mother and grandmother who enjoyed sharing her joy in creating beautiful things with them. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents: Rosemary Hanna (Zell) Castor and Rollin Max Castor.
She is survived by her only child, a daughter: Angela (Don) Merrick, sister Rebecca Castor, brother Scott (Theresa) Castor and life companion: Raymond Fogle, 7 grandchildren, Lucy Merrick, Lila Merrick, Courtney (Ryan) McGann, Kayla Merrick, Amarah Fonzer, Jaden Joyner, Elijah Joyner and one great grandson, Lucas McGann, a step-daughter: Jessica (John) Joyner, three nieces, one nephew, three grand-nephews and one grand-niece.
A celebration of life will be held March 30, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Carmel American Legion, 852 West Main Street, Carmel, IN 46032. Graveside rites will be held at a later date at Cicero, Cemetery.
