Harold "Sandy" Lykes, age 64. of Noblesville, IN died June 27, 2018 at Maple Park Village at Westfield, IN.
He was born August 3, 1953 at Long Branch, New Jersey.
He was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School at Indianapolis. He began working helping his father in carpentering, then became a professional at painting homes. On November 1, 1977 he was hired as a fireman by the Noblesville Fire Department. He loved being a fireman and on days off from work he and others in the department painted homes. Tragically, he was severely injured on January 21, 1983 when he was fighting the Ruppert Furniture Store fire. Suffering a skull fracture and the loss of an arm, he was disabled for several months. When he was able he returned to work serving as a Noblesville parking meter attendant.
He was a former member of the Noblesville Moose Lodge. He was an avid I.U. fan and enjoyed competing in the game of darts and shuffle board.
Surviving him is a brother: Gary S. (Stephanie) Lykes of Cicero, IN, a sister: Vicky (David) Graybrook of Indianapolis, IN, step-father: Paul Ewing of Carmel, IN plus several nieces and nephews.
His parents, William E. and Typie E. (Graston) Lykes preceded him in death.
