Mary Elizabeth Dunn

Mary Elizabeth Dunn, age 92, of Arcadia, IN passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at her home with her loving family at her side.

She was born January 25, 1926 at Tipton, IN to Everett and Cora (Shuck) Whisler.  She was a graduate of Tipton High School.

Mary was known as an excellent seamstress.  Her specialty was draperies, sheers, cafe curtains, valances and more.  She had worked for several years at Apple Interiors and later at Hartley Interiors, both at Arcadia, IN in the drapery departments.

Mary also liked to read, create acrylic paintings, and host family gatherings.  Her family attested to the fact she was an excellent cook and baker.  Plus her love of cats was well known.  She often took in stray cats, nurtured them and even had them neutered. One or two at a time even made it into Mary's home, others claimed her garage.

She was a long-time member of East Union Christian Church.

She married William Max Dunn on March 31, 1945.  He preceded her in death February 28, 2000.  In addition to her husband she was also preceded her in death by her parents, brothers: Paul Whisler and Richard Whisler, and a son-in-law: Richard Stinson.

Surviving her is a son: Terry (Teresa) Dunn of Arcadia, IN, daughters: Mary Ann (Truman) Baker of Arcadia, IN and Vicki Dunn of Cicero, IN, a sister: Helen Planalp of Goldsmith, IN, 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 8, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034.  John Knapp will officiate.  Burial will follow at Arcadia Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12;00 noon until time of the services.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society for Hamilton County.  You may send condolences at http://www.hartleyfuneralhomes.com.
