Naomi Pearl Johnson, age 84, of Tipton, IN passed away August 30, 2018 at Century Villa at Greentown, IN.
She was born April 17, 1934 near Atlanta, IN to Lewis Fredrick and Eva (Coy) Schildmeier.
She was a graduate of Jackson Central High School with the Class of 1952. She then joined the U.S. Navy, proudly serving our country over three years. Being athletic in high school she earned a position on the Navy basketball team. Upon being honorably discharged she worked in clerical positions for Firestone Industrial Rubber Products Company at Noblesville followed by similar positions at Ft. Benjamin Harrison and lastly at Mayflower Moving Company.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church at Arcadia, IN, Tipton American Legion, Tipton County Extension Homemakers Club and the Midwest Threshers Club.
She enjoyed bowling, cooking, gardening and interacting with her family.
She was first married to Robert Madison Weaver. He was killed October 12, 1961 in a Navy airplane crash while he was serving his country.
On August 1, 1967 she married Gary White Johnson. He preceded her in death August 6, 2008. In addition to her parents and husband, she also was preceded in death by a grandson: Michael Weaver, a sister: Norma Comer and brothers: Glennis Schildmeier and Donald Schildmeier.
Surviving her are two sons: Dean Lee Weaver of Tipton, IN and Gary White (Michelle) Johnson of Tipton, IN, brothers: Harold Schildmeier of Arcadia, IN and Lewis Schildmeier of Atlanta, IN. Additional survivors include grandchildren: Robert Weaver, Nikita Frazier, and Eroica, Alexandra and Chandler Johnson, great-grandchildren: Angel Weaver and Oakley and Mavis Frazier.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034, with Pastor David Stout officiating.
