Richard William "Smiley" Baker, age 54, of Tipton, IN died Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Riverwalk Village at Noblesville, IN.
He was born January 3, 1964 at Noblesville, IN to Philip Stanley and Nancy Ann (Blessinger) Baker.
He graduated from Hamilton Hamilton Heights High School with the Class of 1983. He was a country boy at heart and from an early age began working for area farmers that carried on into his adult life. He and his wife purchased a small farm and together they gardened and raised livestock on that farm. He had also worked at Beaver Materials that later became Sagamore Materials for over 27 years.
Smiley, an appropriate nickname due to his sunny disposition, enjoyed hunting fishing, camping and snow plowing in the winter months. He dearly loved his family and especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren to Holiday World.
He married Julie Anne (Pattison) Baker on September 18, 2004. She survives him. Additional survivors include his mother: Nancy Ann Baker of Arcadia, IN,
sons: Andrew Philip Baker of Brandon, WI, Gerald Michael (Chelsey) Saxon, Bradley William Saxon, Thomas Daniel (Amanda) Saxon and Travis Joseph Saxon all of Tipton, IN, daughters: Kelly (James) Greene of Zion, IL, Melissa (Scott) Mitchell of Arcadia, IN, and Susan (Rob) Yeary of Cassopolis, MI, plus 5 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father: Philip Stanley Baker.
Graveside services will be held Monday, March 12, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Arcadia Cemetery east of Arcadia, IN with Pastor Allen Gross officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Sunday at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society for Hamilton County, Noblesville, IN.
