Robert Gene Hunter, age 85, of Noblesville, IN, passed away April 7, 2019 at his home. He was born March 27, 1934 at Arcadia, IN to Alvin and Margaret (Caylor) Hunter.
He was a graduate of Walnut Grove High School with the Class of 1954. He then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He first worked at Delco Remy at Anderson, IN, then worked for several years for the Hamilton County Highway Department, and lastly worked in the transportation department for Noble Industries.
Following in his father's footsteps, he served for over 30 years with the White River Volunteer Fire Department including four years as the Fire Chief. Being industrious and a hard worker he also worked on cars and lawn mowers. He greatly enjoyed being with his family and mornings at the Noblesville Jim Dandy with the"Breakfast Group".
He married Gladys M. (Stiles) Hunter on October 30, 1959. She preceded him in death September 30, 2010. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers: Don and Joe Hunter.
Surviving him are sons: Tom Henson of Cicero, IN, Robert Hunter of Springville, Utah and Jeffrey Hunter of Noblesville, IN, daughters: Judy Grubbs of Danville, IN, Ruth Tomes of Nashville, IN and Susan Wills of Carmel, IN, a brother: David Hunter of Indianapolis, IN, sisters: Vonda Foster of Gainsville, MO, and Eileen Conaway and Cora McCoy both of Cicero, IN, plus 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 12, 2019 at 12:00 Noon at Omega Christian Church, 12763 East 281st Street, Arcadia, IN 46030, with Pastor Neal Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the Arcadia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to Omega Christian Church or the White River Volunteer Fire Department. Donation envelopes will be available at the Church.
