Shirley Ann Thatcher

Shirley Ann Thatcher, age 81, of Tipton, IN passed away December 27, 2018 at Miller's Merry Manor at Tipton.

She was born May 15, 1937 at Elwood, IN to Hershel and Thelma (Lively) Castor.

She graduated from Jackson Central High School with the Class of 1955.  She continued her education at the House of James Beauty College at Indianapolis. 

She soon started her own business in her country home near Atlanta that she named Country-Side Beauty Salon. She operated her Salon for over 53 years.

She was adept at gardening, landscaping, decorating and designing. She even was the force behind planning and building a log cabin behind her home near the woods where her children could play.  She also enjoyed camping, sewing and oil painting.  Her children attested to her being an awesome cook and hostess.  Additionally Shirley's love of children led her to take foster children into her home and heart.

Shirley attended Trinity Wesleyan Church at Tipton, IN.

She married Ronald Brian Thatcher on January 20, 1961.  He preceded her in death July 18, 2012.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren.

Surviving her are sons: Jeffrey (Julie) Miller of Tipton, IN and Bradley (Mary) Miller of Indianapolis, daughters: Karen (Craig) Leininger of Tipton, IN and Deana Thatcher of Atlanta, IN, sister: Beverly McGill, plus 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2019at Trinity Wesleyan Church, 3021 West State Road 28, Tipton, IN, 46072 at 12:00 noon with visitation from 10:00 A.M. until time of the services  Burial will follow at Arcadia Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Wesleyan Church.  You may send condolences at http://www.hartleyfuneralhomes.com.
