Sylvia Moore, age 93, of Cicero, IN passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 at her home. She was born February 1, 1925 at Indianapolis, IN to John and Lena (Felezen) Grindean.
She was a graduate of Emmerich Manual High School with the Class of 1943. She then began nurses training at Indianapolis City Hospital, earning an RN Degree. She then worked for a few years at Marion County General Hospital. She also was in the Cadet Nursing Corps that was the precursor to going into military service, but the war ended before she was inducted.
She married Raymond Thomas Moore on September 19, 1948 and she was instrumental in helping him establish the R.T. Moore Company, Inc. in 1955. Their family continue to operate the business today.
She was devoted to her family and greatly enjoyed family gatherings with them. And her family attested that they dearly loved her and that she was an inspiration to them. She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, tending her flower gardens and mowed her own yard until three months ago. She lived life to the fullest, her motto being, "If you stop, you drop."
Surviving her are sons: Tom (Liz) Moore of Mound, MN, and Doug (Susan) Moore of Noblesville, IN, daughters: Landi Moore of Cicero, IN, DDee (Frank) Dent of Monticello, IN and Bonnie (Joe) Cook of Cicero, IN, a sister: Amelia Warnock of California, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren plus 2 on the way.
Her parents, husband, and eight siblings preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034, with Pastor Doug Kizer officiating. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens near Castleton. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of the services.
