Betty Lou Roop

Betty Lou Roop, age 93, of Noblesville, IN passed away November 22, 2022 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville.

She was born May 14, 1929 at Dayton, Ohio to John and Valerie (Ray) Rott.  She attended school in Elwood and graduated with the Class of 1947 at Elwood High School.  She then took two years of schooling and training at Dayton Beauty College.  She worked for a brief time as a beautician, but after marriage and starting a family that took precedence.  She enjoyed her new role as a homemaker.

She married Donald Leroy Roop on May 22, 1949 and they were blessed with three sons and two daughters: James Roop of Burbank, CA, Phillip Roop of Noblesville, IN, David Roop of Cicero, IN, Mary Richardson of Noblesville, IN, and Sharon Ann Roop of Noblesville, IN.

Surviving her are nine grandchildren: Sherry, Joshua, Susan, Adam, Donnie, John, Lucy, Ernie and Vanessa, plus two great-grandchildren: Margaret and Sophia Grace.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and daughter Sharon Roop.

She was an active member of the Cicero Christian Church where she taught children's Sunday School Classes, played the piano and organ, and also sang in the choir.  She was also active in the Joy Circle, a women's group within the Church.  In addition she was a member of the Cicero Homemakers Extension Home Economics Club.  Leisure time would find her gardening, playing scrabble, Chinese checkers, euchre and working on a crossword puzzle.

Funeral services will be held at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero IN 46034 on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 12:00 Noon with burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
