Charles Thomas "Chuck" Lockwood

Charles Thomas "Chuck" Lockwood, age 86, of Arcadia, Indiana passed away October 15, 2021 at Riverview Health in Noblesville, IN.

He was born July 14, 1935 at Noblesville, IN to Conard Albert and Georgia Alene (Purkey) Lockwood.  He attended Jackson Township Schools and graduated from Jackson Central High School with the Class of 1954.  He grew up working with his dad who opened an auto repair shop combined with gas station business in 1952.  Chuck purchased the shop/station in 1964 and operated it until he retired in 1997, turning the business over to a son.

Being a hard worker, Chuck drove a school bus for Hamilton Heights School Corporation for 56 years, starting in 1959 and retiring in 2016. He also drove the football and basketball teams to away games during that time.  He was a member of the "chain gang" at football games from 1992 to 2020.  He attended the Indianapolis 500 mile race from 1960 to 2021 and was a "yellow shirt" worker for 15 of those years.

He helped start the Jackson Township Fire Department and served as fire chief for 40 years.  He was one of the original members of the Snowdrifters Snowmobile Club. He loved to camp and travel and had twice traveled across our country.

He married Rebecca (Clifford) Lockwood in 1957 who survives him.  Also surviving are two sons: Randy (Dawn) Lockwood of Arcadia, IN and Brian Lockwood of Greenville, SC, grandchildren: Brandon (Kelli) Lockwood and Brett (Jennifer) Lockwood, great-grandchildren: Drake and Aria Lockwood.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by sisters: Martha Pickett and Charlotte "Hodie" Burnett.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Arcadia Christian Church with Pastor Mark Knapp officiating.  Burial will follow at Arcadia Cemetery.  A time of visitation will  be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
