David Allen Murphy age 79, of Atlanta, IN passed away at his home August 21, 2021.
He was born October 11, 1941 at Tipton, Indiana to William and Sarah (Kendall) Murphy. He attended Tipton schools and graduated from Tipton High School with the Class of 1959. He then furthered his education at General Motors Institute and became a processing engineer. Dave then worked as a projection molding engineer and supervisor of the production of plastic car parts for over 42 years.
Dave, as he was fondly known, could make, repair or fix almost anything. He loved to study and do research about the project he planned to tackle. And he never gave up until the job was done and done well. He was an avid golfer and tennis player. Well into his fifties he was still playing in tennis tournaments and winning over young men half his age. Dave loved his family and greatly enjoyed family gatherings.
He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Arcadia, IN.
He married Collis Jean (Langolf) Murphy on October 15, 1966. She survives him. Also surviving is a daughter: Jennifer Diprisco of Katy, Texas, sons: Christopher Murphy of Anderson, IN and Stephen Murphy of Lafayette, IN, grandchildren: Drew Murphy, Athena Murphy and Madeleine Diprisco, and a sister: Gay Waggoner of Peachtree City, Georgia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Jason Murphy and brothers: James Murphy and Phil Murphy.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 P.M. Friday, August 27, 2021 at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034 with visitation from 4:00 P.M. until time of the service.
