George Gilbert Walker

George Gilbert Walker, age 86, of Arcadia, IN passed away April 9, 2019 at his home.  He was born August 24, 1932 at Rock Island, Illinois to Charles Luther and Mary Ruth (Steffy) Walker.

As a young man he served his country in the U.S. Army and was soon sent to Korea to assist in the war effort there.  After being honorably discharged he became employed at Delco Remy as a machinist where he worked for over 34 years.  He had also worked at the Firestone Store and Sun Welding both formerly located in Arcadia, IN.  During this time, he also worked part-time at the Clifford Shell Service Station.

His family said George loved to work, especially any type of mechanic repair work.

He also loved to read, listen to country music, and assist his wife in gardening.

He was a member of the Cicero American Legion and United Auto Workers.

He married Betty Loraine (Cady) Walker on September 23, 1952.  She preceded him death August 24, 2018.  In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters Pat and Elizabeth.

Surviving him are twin sons: Ron (Karen) Walker of Atlanta, IN and Don (Debbie) Walker of Lebanon, IN, brothers: Bob Walker of Greenville, NC, Lee Walker of Indiana, PA, and Gerald Walker of Overland, OH, a sister: Edith Hauser of Columbus, OH, plus 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 12:00 Noon with visitation from 10:00 A.M. until time of the services at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034.  Burial will follow at the Arcadia Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5635 West 96th Street, Suit e 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.  You may send condolences at http://www.hartleyfuneralhomes.com.
