Jerry M. Robinson, age 86, of Cicero, Indiana, peacefully passed away at his home on February 7, 2022 with his loved ones by his side.
He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan to Maxwell G. & Dorothy E. (Sprowl) Robinson. After graduating from Battle Creek Central High School in 1954, he met and married Barbara J. Couch in 1956. They were blessed with three children, Ric (Marti) Robinson (FL), Mitch (Amanda) Robinson (MI), and Karen (Terry) Wright (IN). Jerry was then blessed with six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Wesley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ned, and a granddaughter, Abagail.
Jerry worked for several different companies before he became self-employed in 1969, when they purchased the Michigan Motel in Battle Creek. He then acquired various rental properties that included SafeStor Mini Storage and also became owner of the Corlett Lumberyard.
Jerry was very involved with the community that included the Battle Creek Chamber of Commerce, Pennfield Township Planning Committee, and the local Landlord Association. He also served as President of both the Michigan Lodging Association and the Battle Creek Home Builders Association.
Jerry and Barbara never really retired, but enjoyed spending more time with their family, a winter home in Florida, playing golf with friends, landscape projects, abundant back yard birds, and puttering around in his workshop. They relocated to Cicero, Indiana in 2018 where they found a quaint little community and made some wonderful new friends.
Jerry and the family have been overwhelmed with everyone's love and support. He requested there be no funeral service and in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his memory to the Disabled American Veterans or World Vision.
Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034 is entrusted with Jerry's care and where you may send condolences at http://www.hartleyfuneralhomes.com.
