Max Gene Starrett

Max Gene Starrett, age 87, of Arcadia, IN passed away December 4, 2019 at Miller's Merry Manor at Tipton, IN.  He was born August 23, 1932 at Ekin, IN to Malcom Everett and Melba Florence (Pickard) Starrett.

He was a graduate of Sheridan High School with the Class of 1950.  Max was employed for many years at Dow Chemical Company at Indianapolis, IN where he worked in the research and testing department.  

He was a long-time member of Arcadia Christian Church and the Tipton American Legion.  He enjoyed camping, fishing and all sporting events, especially Hamilton Heights football games and all sporting events in which his children and grandchildren were involved.  His family attested to him being a great dad and grandfather. 

After retiring he and his wife enjoyed spending winter months in Florida.

He married Marilyn Alice (Peltier) Starrett on June 10, 1951.  She preceded him in death May 25, 2019.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother: Bobby Starrett and sisters: Betty Pickard and Janet Tharp.

Surviving him is a daughter: Robin Sue (Jerry) Eckart of Cicero, IN, sons: Gene "Smoke" (Colleen) Starrett of Cicero, IN  and Donald Max Starrett of Noblesville, IN, a brother: Larry Starrett of Sebring, FL, five grandchildren: Chad and  Andy Starrett, Amanda Billman , Hilary Kilfoil and Ross Eckart,
several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on December 16, 2019 at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034  with Pastor J.R. Moffatt officiating.  Burial will occur at Arcadia Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. prior to the services.  Memorial contributions may be made to Angels Attic, P.O.
