Nancy Marie Stokes

Nancy Marie Stokes, age 84, of Cicero, Indiana passed away October 12, 2021 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville, IN.

She was born October 7, 1937 at Cicero, Indiana to William Clark and Mae Elnora (Heaton) Cook.  She was raised in Cicero and attended Cicero Elementary School and graduated from Jackson Central High School with the Class of 1956.

She married the love of her life, Creston K. Stokes on July 14, 1957.   In the early years of her marriage she worked at Woods Wire and learned about wiring.  Her family said she could take a lamp apart and competently rewire it.  When she was blessed with a daughter, she opted to be a full time mom and homemaker, a role she enjoyed.

Nancy had many interests that included reading biographies, playing the organ, square dancing, decorating for holidays, hosting family Christmas dinners, and spending time with family, especially her granddaughter.  She was an animal lover and had rescued several animals including her current furry friend, Big Boy.

Nancy was a member of the Cicero Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving her is her husband, Creston K. Stokes of Cicero, IN, a daughter: Abbey Gail (Robert) Ward of Cicero, IN, granddaughter: Lily Ann Ward, brothers: Michael (Connie) Cook of Arcadia, IN, James (Joyce) Cook of Paris, TN, and William "Junior" Cook of Arcadia, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-sisters: Betty McHugh and Rosemary Ogle McDaniels.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034,  with Scott Miller officiating.  Burial will follow at Cicero Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7;00 P.M.
