Phillip Leon Hendricks, age 70, of Cicero, IN passed away August 5, 2020 at Riverview Health at Noblesville, IN.
He was born September 16, 1949 at Elwood, IN to Leon Lavonne and Althea Judah (Newton) Hendricks. He attended Windfall Schools and graduated with the Class of 1967. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.
He had worked as a general contractor, mainly as a steel siding applicator. Leisure time would find him working on cars, bird watching, listening to the music of AC/DC band, and gardening. He was known for raising tasty strawberries and growing beautiful plants and flowers. Those who personally knew him said he was never judgemental, and through the years helped many people. He often provided a place for them to live and worked to help get them back on their feet. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He married Brenda Sue (Douglass) Hendricks on April 16, 1978. She survives him. Also surviving is a daughter: Brenna Hendricks of Cicero, IN, sons: Travis (Rhea) Hendricks of Wabash, IN, Patrick (Marcy) Hendricks and Johathan Hinshaw both of Noblesville, IN, brothers: Ronald Hendricks of Anomosa, Iowa and Rodger Hendricks of Tipton, IN plus ten grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034. Cicero American Legion will provide military funeral rites followed by a time of comments from friends and family. Masks are to be worn when at the funeral home.
