Phyllis Leiendecker Obituary

Phyllis Jane Leiendecker, age 97, of Cicero, Indiana passed away November 18, 2022 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, IN.

She was born April 25, 1925 at Noblesville to Floyd and Elsa (Farlow) Voss. She grew up in Cicero and graduated with the Class of 1943 at Cicero High  School.  Phyllis then went to work at the Cotton Candy Company in Cicero, IN.  Contrary to the Cotton name they did not make cotton candy.  The Company was owned by a Mr. Cotton.  Among other types of candy they produced, they were known for making delicious peanut butter bars.

Phyllis then went to work in the office at Firestone Industrial Rubber Company in Noblesville.  Liking secretarial and clerical work she then worked at American United Life Insurance Company followed by a time at Allison Transmission Company.  Lastly she "came home" to work for over 30 years as a clerk at the U.S. Post Office in Cicero. She greatly enjoyed seeing her friends and neighbors as they arrived to get their mail.

Phyllis was an active member of the Cicero United Methodist Church where she also taught Sunday School for the children.

She was first married to Lee Wallace who preceded her in death in 1968.  She then married George Leiendecker on February 27, 1971.  He preceded her in death on June 20, 2011.  In addition to her husbands she also was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings: Evelyn Alden Zimmerman, Thomas Voss and Joseph Voss.

Surviving her is a son: David Lee Wallace of Noblesville, IN, a grandson:Scott David Wallace of Noblesville, IN and two great grandchildren: Claire and Ethan Wallace.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034, with burial to follow at Cicero Cemetery.  A time of visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until time of the services.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Donation envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.  You may send condolences at www.hartleyfuneralhomes.com.
