Robert Eugene "Buddy" Engle

Robert Eugene "Buddy" Engle, age 66, of Arcadia, IN passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

Buddy, as he was fondly known, was born April 2, 1954 at Noblesville, IN to Robert and Geneva Engle.  He attended Hamilton Heights elementary and middle schools then he transferred to Bloomington North High School. In Bloomington he met the love of his life, Marie Denise Chestnut.  They were married June 23, 1973 and moved back to Arcadia to start their family.

Buddy worked for G.W. Pierce Company for ten years.  Leaving the G.W. Pierce Company, Buddy bought his first tree truck and began Engle's Tree Moving and Landscaping business.  With his wife, sons, grandchildren, and many family friends, Buddy grew his company into the thriving business it is today.

In addition to running Engle's Tree Moving and Landscaping business, Buddy was also a 40 year volunteer firefighter for the White River Fire Department where he had also served as an Assistant Fire Chief.

Buddy had a smile that would light up a room, an infectious laugh, and anyone that knew him knew that he was a most kind and giving person.  He loved spending time with sons and family, instructing them in their work, coaching and attending his kids and grandkids dirt bike races and sporting events, driving his grandkids around his property in the ATV, watching westerns, driving his wife around in his Corvette, and just being with his family.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Denise, sons: Trampess (Steffonie Ryan) Engle, James "Cody" (Amanda) Engle, daughter: Melissa "Nickie" (Jason) Burgess, 9 grandchildren, and 8 bonus grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Geneva Engle and his brother: Ronny Engle.

Graveside rites will be held at 11:00 A.M. on April 17, 2021 at Cicero Cemetery for Robert "Buddy" Engle preceded by a procession from the White River Township Fire Department, 12695 East 256th Street, Cicero, IN 46034.  Following the graveside rites, a celebration of life will take place at the White River Township Fire Department.
