Robert Eugene Matusz

Robert Eugene Matusz, age 88, of Cicero, IN passed away December 24, 2019 at Wellbrooke of Westfield.  He was born April 20. 1931 at East Chicago, Indiana to Eugene Alexander and Helen Barbara (Orban) Matusz.

He was a graduate of Washington High School at East Chicago, IN with the Class of 1949.  He then proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.  Returning home, he became employed as an electrician at Bethlehem Steel Corporation at Portage, IN, where he worked for 29 years.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church at Cicero, IN and the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed woodworking and carving, fishing with his grandsons, and being with his family, especially the grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles. 

He married Eleanor Matusz who survives him.  Also surviving is a son: Michael (Elizabeth) Matusz of Arizona, Cynthia Matusz of Florida, Diane (Randy) Peppler of Oklahoma, and Eileen (Steve) Sailor of Indiana, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to is parents, he was preceded in death by a sister:Carol Ryfa and brothers: Eugene and Richard Matusz.

Funeral Mass will occur on Friday, December 27. 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 410 South Pearl Street, Cicero, IN 46034 with Rev. Dale Ehrman officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 A.
