Robert Clinton Riggs

Robert Clinton Riggs, age 96, of Cicero, IN passed away October 31, 2021 at his home.

He was born March 9, 1925 at Springfield, Missouri, the son of Clint and Hazel Riggs.  He grew up and was educated in Springfield, graduating from Central Heights High School.  He then entered WWII and became a first scout in Co A, 276th Infantry, 70th Division.  After the War, he attended the Missouri School of Mines where he became an engineer.

On May 26th he married the love of his life, Catherine M. (Gould) Riggs who preceded him in death on October 24, 2005.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Rebori, and other relatives.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandy Riggs, son: Steve (Karen) Riggs, grandson: James Riggs and many other loving family members and close friends.

Robert was employed by Shell Oil Corporation after college where he worked as an engineer overseeing multiple states. He was based out of Oklahoma until being transferred to Indiana in the mid 1970's and retiring in the late 1980's.

Robert enjoyed working in his workshop and with his engineering background there was very little he could not build or repair.  He loved woodworking, carving, fishing and vacationing with family and friends.  He was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping up with world events also. His children believe that he was the greatest man and father to ever live, and he will be deeply missed by all.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 11:45 A.M. at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034, with burial to follow at Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery on IN State Road 32 west of Noblesville, IN.  A time of visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of the services.  Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice, 9775 Crosspoint Blvd., #118, Indianapolis, IN 46256.  You may send condolences at http://www.hartleyfuneralhomes.com.
