Sharon Jean Piper, age 84, of Cicero, IN went to sing in the Lord’s choir November 20, 2023 at Harbor Manor Health and Living in Noblesville, IN after a short illness. Sharon was born April 4, 1939, to Claude E. and Lucille E. (Trapp) Beechler in Indianapolis, IN.
Sharon is survived by son Wayne Allen Piper (Monica) of Cicero, grandchildren: Grace Elizabeth Piper, Nicholas Allen Piper (Halle), Braden Matthew Kinder, Piper Noelle Kinder, and Carson Andrew Kinder. Sharon also leaves behind many dear friends including Betty Jo Christy who enjoyed a 65-year friendship with her.
Sharon was a lifelong resident of Cicero who married (for 59 years) her high school sweetheart Dennis Allen Piper who preceded her in death. Also preceding her death were her parents, son Randy Gene Piper, daughter Renee’ Sue Kinder.
Sharon was a musician at heart – whether playing her oboe in the high school band, at state music competitions or with the Indianapolis Symphony or singing with Hamilton County Extension Chorus - the Silver Notes (49 years), the state chorus of Indiana - the Melody Makers or traveling the world with the Purdue Musical Organization. There was always music in her heart and a smile on her face. Sharon was also active in Extension Homemakers clubs of Hamilton County and could be seen at the Elephant Ear stand each year. Sharon loved to travel with her family and friends whether it was camping in a state park or visiting Russia, Hawaii, etc. Sharon was a devoted member of Cicero Christian church for many years. Sharon spent her career in the insurance industry with many companies/agencies but retired after many years with Timothy McSoley Financial Planning.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution can be made to The Silver Notes Scholarship Fund at the Purdue Hamilton County Extension 2003 Pleasant Street Noblesville, IN 46060.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN. Services will be held Friday November 24, 2023, at Cicero Christian Church 1715 Stringtown Pike Cicero, IN 46034. Visitation will be 11am to 1pm with services following. The burial will be at Cicero Cemetery.
