Willis "Wid" Green Obituary

Willis "Wid" Neal Green was born April 19, 1928 at Noblesville, Indiana to Leo and Emma (Bolander) Green.  Wid left his earthly home to join his Heavenly Father on April 1, 2022 while living at 5 Star Residences of Noblesville, Indiana.

He married Wanda Edith (Wallace) Green on February 18, 1955 at her parents home.  They enjoyed 67 years of marriage and were blessed with two sons: David "Yogi" (Deborah) Green and Dale "Buck" (Barbara) Green.  Five grandchildren soon joined their family.  Wid loved to play practical jokes and pranks on them and every Christmas he would have silly gifts for them to open.

Wid enlisted in the National Guard on June 22, 1948 and retired as a Command Sergeant Major on August 19, 1987.  Additionally, he worked for over thirty years in maintenance for the National Guard. He also owned and operated a farm that he called Green Acres where he raised cattle and grew corn and soybeans.  He also was a caretaker at Carey Cemetery located north of Noblesville where he assisted with maintenance and scheduling grave openings.

He attended White River Christian Church and Omega Christian Church.  He was very active with the youth group while at White River Christian Church.  He also was an active member of the Central Indiana Antique Tractor and Engine Association.

He loved antique tractors and collected them during his later years.  His favorite past time was working on his tractors.  Wid and his beloved wife, Wanda were regulars at the Jim Dandy Restaurant where he enthusiastically visited with all who were dining there.  He always had a twinkle in his eye and a joke or good story to tell that usually involved "soldier talk" or "farm talk".  Wid and Wanda also enjoyed vacationing in Florida, Branson, Missouri, and going on ocean cruises.

Surviving him in addition to his wife, sons and daughters-in-law are grandchildren: Kelly (Michael) Poulin, Joshua (Ashley) Green, Kyle (Susan) Green, Jamie (Jon) Meinert, and Julie (Jerry Cahoe) Green, plus eight great grandchildren: Aubrey, Brock, Weston, Gabriel, Elizabeth, JoAnna, Rosie, and Emily.  He is also survived by a sister, Anna Marie Martin and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Lou Fulton.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034, with burial to follow at Carey Cemetery.  Pastor Neal Brown will officiate.  Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of the services.  Memorial contributions may be made to Omega Christian Church, 12763 East 281st Street, Arcadia, IN 46030.  You may send condolences at http://www.hartleyfuneralhomes.com.
